Transcendence Through MINDFULNESS

"Dharma for the Novice"

PROGRAM: This session will guide you through a journey of liberation by connecting you to your awakening power and releasing of all negative thoughts which are the causes of suffering. These thoughts arrest us into forgetting our true loving nature, blocking our flow and universal connection through consciousness.

With this practice, true awareness brings the experience of peace and expansion, and the physiology undergoes a change as every cell in the body is filled with more prana flowing. This results in joy, peace, and enthusiasm as the level of energy in the body increases.

When we heal the mind, we also heal the physical body. Bringing serenity and a healthier way of living.

BIO: Isabela teaches through the wisdom of love and awareness the awakening of our true self through her guidance and methods of mindfulness and prana healing. She has been trained in the theravada Buddhist meditation since 2006 and as a certified Reiki Master. And after her own awakening, she began teaching about the truth of our being.

She is currently working on a book about enlightenment and healing through the mastery of embracing the power of love and equality. More on the instructor at beingluminous.org.

$20 - exchange with teacher prior to workshop

Intro to Ayurvedic Marma Point Therapy

  • HUB seventeen

Do you wake up in the morning feeling stressed, or find yourself feeling anxious throughout the day? Do you have trouble sleeping at night? Do your joints crack, are your muscles tight and inflexible? Is your skin feeling dry and lacking luster? Ayurveda's acupressure system of marma point therapy and practice of warm oil massage can help your body and mind cope and release the regular stressors and strains of daily life.

Marmas are vital points located on the surface of the body that connected to both gross and subtle channels and pathways in the body system. They are ‘vital’ because they are infused with energy, what in Ayurveda is called prana, or Life-Love-Evolutionary-Energy-Force which is imbued with consciousness; marma points are where consciousness is expressed.

Anatomically a marma is a juncture on the body where two or more types of tissue meet (i.e. veins, arteries, tendons, muscles, bones, joints); marmas connect nerve endings throughout the body. During this 2 hour class we will discuss the basics of marma theory and learn a number of useful marma points that you can activate on your own body to manage stress, calm your central and autonomic nervous systems. We will also learn the art of daily morning abhyangaoil massage, in addition to an evening foot massage utilizing marma points to activate detoxification, relieve stress, ultimately bringing on deep relaxation.

In the original Ayurvedic text, Charaka Samhita, it is written: 'The body of one who uses oil massage regularly does not become affected much even if subjected to injury or strenuous work. By using oil massage daily, a person is endowed with pleasant touch, trimmed body parts and becomes strong, charming and least affected by old age.'

The Sanskrit word sneha has a shared meaning of ‘oil’ and ‘love’ as it is believed the effects of a good massage are akin to the feeling of being saturated with love!! Each participant will receive a bottle of herbalized massage oil made by Noël to practice these techniques at home. Handouts will be given, but please bring a pen and paper to take notes! Tea will be served.

Samantha Mochizuki initially discovered yoga through a wrist injury from snowboarding in California back in 2003. There was a shift in perspective after moving to NYC almost 10 years ago and navigating the rapid pace of the city. Not only did she develop a deeper appreciation in the physical aspect of the practice, but learned mindfulness, self-inquiry, acceptance, and the sense of community.

Samantha completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training program in Baptiste yoga at Lyons Den Power Yoga(RYS) in NYC in 2015. Also trained in hands-on assisting through the Baptiste Institute, Samantha loves sharing this practice of empowerment through both teaching & assisting

EARTHLY MATTERS - A workshop with Rima Rabbath & Miles Neale

Planet earth is our life raft floating in space. Her delicate biosphere containing inter-dependent eco-systems, diverse species and precious resources are being threatened by human afflictions driven by delusion.

The ancient wisdom and practices of Yoga and Tibetan Buddhism offer timeless solutions to help us reconnect with a sacred vision, caring attitude and balanced lifestyle that can restore our connection with Mother Earth and all her earthlings.

In this 3-hour sadhana, yogini Rima Rabbath and Buddhist psychotherapist Dr. Miles Neale will use postures, breath-work, chanting and visualization to lead us on a mind-heart expanding odyssey to re-awaken us to inter-being, love, and creativity before it’s too late.

A $45 fee will be exchanged with the teachers prior to workshop.

Holistic Happening was created by yoga teacher Kayla Kleinman and health coach Leslie McDonald. Our goal is to bring like-minded people together through interactive wellness events that combine yoga, food, wellness and everything in between.

Kayla Kleinman:

After graduating NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Drama, Kayla decided to follow her passion for fitness. Her goal is to inspire other young professionals to lead their healthiest and happiest life through fitness and self improvement. She is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and completed her 200-hour Yoga certification at Yoga Vida. Her fitness blog, Kayla in the City, was recently featured on Teen Vogue.

Leslie McDonald:

Leslie McDonald is a Board Certified Health Coach after receiving the training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She is also Reiki II certified and holds a BA and MSPC degree from Clark University. Her approach to wellness isn't just about focusing on the foods you eat, but also looking at the relationships you have, your career choices and your physical activity. You can find her most mornings working out before the sun rises, at home cooking with her husband, at the dog park with her rescue dog, Sadie, or starting the day with a green smoothie in one hand and dark chocolate in the other.

About She's the First:
She's the First provides scholarships, mentorship, and empowerment to girls in low-income countries who will be the first in their families to graduate.

About DonorsChoose.org

LOVEVOLUTION

  • HUB seventeen

We are in a new age of enlightenment, shedding light on information and wisdom that may have been kept from our reach until recently. For many of us, our newfound "wokeness" has us feeling anywhere between enlightened, outraged, or confused. The most important thing to remember about our society, and ourselves, is that to be knowledgable about the history of this life does not mean you must drown in it. How can we use all that we know, or don't yet know, and all that we have now to thrive individually and collectively? We were created to learn to live in harmony with ourselves and amongst each other.

We invite you to Part II of our "LOVEVOLUTION" series, where we will be focusing on the ways in which we can find oneness. We welcome all guests to come mingle, voice their concerns, and enjoy a day of community and self-care. In efforts to create a family setting, we will be breaking bread together over a light meal, following a group meditation session.
