Sayfty: Resources & Tools for Sexual Assault Survivors and Allies

According to the World Health Organization, 1/3 women experience some form of physical or sexual violence, from a male partner during the course of their lifetime. Further lack of family and community support, economic independence and limited access to justice make the survivor more vulnerable.

A survivor of violence often starts his/her journey by seeking help through a specific organization or women’s protection center. What ensues thereafter largely depends on the people and support institutions involved in each step of the way. Survivors need an effective support system that can provide a comprehensive set of services ranging from medical care to safe accommodation, counseling, legal advice, police protection and economic empowerment.

Goals of the event
This event will allow people of all genders to come together to share survivor stories, tools, resources and advocacy efforts for survivors and allies. The event will constitute a space for all to frankly and safely discuss the challenges they face as survivors and allies. The tools and resources shared during the event will be with the goal to heal and empower survivors and allies.

  1. To provide a safe space for survivor and allies to come together and share stories
  2. To Empower survivors and allies with the right tools and resources for healing
  3. To support a preventive measure like self-defense workshops for girls in India

This is a ticketed event. 100% of the proceeds will be used by Sayfty to organize self-defense workshops for girls in India. Sayfty organized self-defense workshops for young women and girls in over 16 countries last year empowering more thank 800 young women.

Yoga for the Wounded Heart Workshop

The practice of yoga can serve as a powerful tool for helping us heal some of our deepest heartbreaks. Our emotional wounds can profoundly affect our daily lives, as well as our ability to forge connections with others and experience genuine freedom.

The tradition of yoga offers both a philosophical perspective as well as a practical path towards presence, and hence towards healing that which keeps us from presence.

Join philosopher, yoga instructor, and award-winning writer Tatiana Forero Puerta in this two-hour workshop based on her book, Yoga for the Wounded Heart: A Philosophy, Practice, and Journey of Healing Emotional Pain (Lantern Books, 2018). This workshop will utilize the physical practice of asana, as well as lecture, group work, self-reflection, and meditation techniques to not only dive deeper into what is available on the yogic path but also explore a practical application to the yogic tools of healing our precious hearts.

No previous experience with yoga necessary; just the curiosity to go within.

Yoga Flow with Eve

Yoga Flow with Eve

Flowing with Eve will leave you sweaty and bright. Feel alive through the movement, pull energy through your body, and leave feeling renewed.

A true mind over body experience, we will work with breath, mantra, and movement to create an experience in which we can come together to balance our bodies and minds.

Athlete. Legend. WARRIOR (or as we yogis say: Virabhadrasana;)).

It was her love of yoga that brought Eve to her love of SoulCycle. That high that drapes you after rolling up your mat from a strong practice was the same high she left the room with each time she rode a SoulCycle bike. The feeling was uncanny and the experience so different, yet so similar.

And while 15 years of yoga practice informed her teaching on the bike, it wasn’t until this year that she finally carved out the time and created the space to get her 200hr certification through Laughing Lotus here in NYC.

Eve’s yoga practice inspired and influenced the way she crafted her SoulCycle classes, so it feels full circle to be to be teaching at her second home, Hub Seventeen.

$20 for class. First come first serve.
