The Resident: The Connection Series

Please join HUB Seventeen as we celebrate the opening of The Connection Series, a collection of works created and curated by NYC-based artist, Emma Hart. The evening will consist of a period of connection and networking followed by an open mic performance. If guests are interested in the open mic portion of the night, please consider sharing works that incorporate the themes of love, healing, and connections whether they be comfortable or uncomfortable.

There will be complimentary drinks and bites provided.

THE CONNECTION SERIES

The Connections Series by EMMA HART was started in 2017 and has over a hundred pieces in the collection. EMMA HART conveys the many types of relationships we have throughout life whether it be lovers, friends, family, or strangers. EMMA HART uses lines and space to explore why people come in and out of our lives. The hearts represent the individual, the lines represent one's path, and the space represents time. Each piece has a prose that goes along with it using they/them pronouns and each set of hearts have their own stories. Some pieces go together and some don't. Curating the pieces for HUB Seventeen, EMMA HART mixed and matched pieces she never considered to contrast and reflect on one another but was pleasantly surprised with these pieces coexisting next to each other. To follow The Connection Series go to @theconnectionseries_ on Instagram and to contact EMMA HART email her at Emmamhart13@gmail.com

Flow + Tell

Flow+Tell

A YOGA + DINNER + LIVE MUSIC EXPERIENCE

Flow+Tell started from the idea that most yoga classes end with the students, who just spent 60-90 minutes cultivating the 'yoga high', scatter out of the studio in a mad dash back onto the crazy city streets. What better time to segue a live music savasana right into an intimate dinner experience where curated conversation prompts could catalyze raw, vulnerable connection? Wind it down with a music performance during dessert and Flow+Tell was born.

Flow+Tell was created by Yoga Instructor and Beatbox Vocalist Jonathan Stone. He first discovered yoga in 2007 when it aided his recovery from a meniscus tear. He deepened his connection further in 2017 when he spent three transformational weeks at the Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja, Mexico obtaining his 200-hour teacher certification.

As an instructor, he takes a passionate approach to teaching — one that aims to inspire others to live a yogic life on and off of the mat, builds community and embodies the physical, spiritual, and emotional aspects of well-being. As a musician, he loves infusing live elements of throat singing, handpan and live percussion into his classes and performs regularly around New York City, where he calls home.

BLUE is the story our generation need to hear. The industrialization that has occurred in the oceans over the last century, mirrors the events that triggered mass extinctions on land. Industrial scale fishing, habitat destruction, species loss and pollution have placed the ocean in peril. Spectrum

In Forrest Yoga, our mission is to mend the rainbow hoop of the people. To bring people together for their own healing and the healing of the community at large through yoga and meditation practices. During Pride month, it feels important to bring this medicine to everybody. The rainbow hoop of the people includes all people, and these sessions are for you, no matter who you are, where you are from, or your ability. We have split the day up so that you can join in for individual sessions no matter what your schedule is.

Celebrate Pride by giving yourself and your spirit a gift.

12.00 – 1.30pm

Walking The Path Of Your Spirit

This session will begin with a meditation ceremony to get clear on the path we want to follow in our life and how we can use our innate gifts to further that goal. After the meditation, we will work through a Forrest Yoga sequence to awaken your body, fire up your legs and get you excited about living the life that you choose!

1.30-2.30pm

Heal Your Back

Learning to meet the needs of the body sounds basic, but can be so hard to do. This class will focus on using Forrest Yoga tools to work through some of the issue areas in the neck, shoulders, and lower back. Learn some amazing yoga and movement practices to work into some of these areas and ask questions about what you can do for you back.

2.30-3.00pm

Lunch break and Kilted Yoga book signing with refreshments provided by Lululemon

5.30–6.30pm

Spirit Flow

When our communities come together with music, rhythm, and movement, healing can happen. This is the celebration of our time together.

6.30-7.30pm

Nature Child

We will begin this session with a Yoga Nidra meditation to connect you to a place of resplendent natural beauty. This sanctuary will be the energy we work into the gentle restorative poses before finishing with a guided meditation to bring you into a restful state.
